The verified fee tables for ten CAAPID advanced standing programs, plus the deposits nobody warns you about. return ( <> The Range Is Wider Than Anyone Tells You Applying to Nova Southeastern's international program costs $3,050 before anyone offers you anything. Applying to Penn's costs $75 . That is a fortyfold difference between two programs an applicant might reasonably put on the same list, and almost nobody discovers it until the invoice arrives. This page collects what each program charges an applicant, from the ten CAAPID programs where we have read the fees on the school's own pages. What these numbers are, and are not. These are fees charged by the program : its supplemental application fee, plus any bench test or skills assessment fee. They are separate from ADEA CAAPID's own central application fees , which every
applicant pays on top and which we have not verified here. They also stop at the offer. Deposits are a much larger number and are covered further down. What Each Program Charges Before an Offer Sorted by what you would pay if you applied and were invited to interview: Program. Application fee. Bench / skills fee. Total before an offer. Nova Southeastern (IDP). $50. $3,000. $3,050. Ponce (ASID). $100. $1,250. $1,350. UT San Antonio (IDEP). $150. $385 skills testing. $535. UNC Adams (ASPID). $150. $300. $450. Washington (IDDS). $185. Not published. $185 +. Harvard (ASID). $150. Not published. $150 +. Pacific Dugoni (IDS). $100. No bench test this cycle. $100. VCU (IDP). $85. Not published. $85 +. Michigan (ITDP). $75. Not published. $75 +. Penn (PASS). $75. None — "There is no bench exam". $75. Two things in that table are worth sitting with. The fees are not correlated with selectivity. Penn's PASS program interviews roughly 100 people
for about 20 places out of 1,790+ applications, and charges less to apply than all but one other program here. Cost tells you nothing about your odds. Nova Southeastern is not merely the most expensive, it is an outlier. Its $3,000 bench test fee is more than twice the next highest and forty times Penn's entire application cost. It is charged on top of tuition, and NSU does not publish whether it is refundable — so budget it as spent. Four Programs Charge You a Fee They Do Not Publish Look again at the "Not published" rows. Washington, Harvard, VCU and Michigan all involve a bench test or skills assessment in some form — Harvard's on-campus final includes a bench skills assessment, Washington runs bench testing in the summer, Michigan says a laboratory bench test on manikins may be required — but none of them publishes what it costs, or states that it is free. That is a genuine planning problem rather than a complaint about paperwork.
If you are choosing between eight programs on a fixed budget, four of them will not tell you what they will charge until after they have invited you. Ask before you apply, not after you are invited. Email each program's admissions office and ask one question: "If I am invited to interview, what fees will I be charged, and when are they due?" It takes five minutes per school and it is the only way to build a real budget. Ask early. Once the invitation arrives you are usually working to a deadline measured in days, and that is a bad moment to discover a four-figure charge. Note also when the bench fee falls. UNC's $300 is paid by applicants selected for interview, not by everyone who applies. So your real cost depends on an outcome you cannot predict: a strong applicant invited everywhere pays far more than a weak one, and the better your application, the higher your costs. The Deposit Is the Number That Actually Decides Things
Application fees are noise next to what happens after an offer. Program. Deposit on acceptance. Terms. Penn (PASS). $5,000. Non-refundable, due within several weeks; within 10 days if accepted after 1 September. UNC Adams (ASPID). $5,000. Non-refundable, due within 14 days of the offer. Nova Southeastern (IDP). $2,000. Credited toward tuition, non-refundable on withdrawal. VCU (IDP). Amount not published. Details given at interview; not refunded if you go elsewhere. Read the deadlines rather than the amounts. Penn wants $5,000 within weeks, and within ten days if your offer lands after September. UNC wants $5,000 within fourteen days. Those windows are short by design. You may have to pay to hold a place you will not take. Rolling admissions mean offers arrive at different times. If Penn or UNC offers you a place in September and your first-choice program has not decided yet, you have a fortnight to choose between losing the offer and
paying $5,000 you will not get back. That is the real cost structure of applying to advanced standing programs, and it is worth planning for before you build your list — not after the first offer arrives. How to Budget for This Honestly A workable approach, in the order the money leaves your account: Credential evaluation , before you apply anywhere — a few hundred dollars, and it must go to the right agency. Penn and UNC both refuse WES and require ECE, so ordering the wrong one costs the fee twice. Our guide covers which school takes which . ADEA CAAPID's own fees , which scale with the number of programs you designate. Each program's supplemental fee — $50 to $185 from the table above. Bench and skills fees , for the programs that invite you. Assume the worst case rather than the average: if NSU is on your list, that is $3,000 you might owe. Travel for in-person interviews. Ponce interviews in Puerto Rico, UNC in Chapel Hill, NSU in
Clearwater. Several programs hold a single interview date. A deposit , potentially more than one, potentially for a place you decline. The programs where we have verified every figure are collected in our CAAPID program finder , and each has a full guide of its own — including Nova Southeastern , Ponce , UNC and Penn . What This Page Does Not Cover Ten programs, not forty-seven. These are the ones where we have read the fees on the school's own admissions pages and recorded the source. The rest are absent rather than estimated — a fee we cannot cite is a fee we will not print. "Not published" in the table means exactly that: the school does not state a figure. It does not mean the fee is zero, and it should not be budgeted as zero. Fees change between cycles, and several of these
programs revised theirs within the last year. Every figure here was checked in August 2026 against the school's own pages. Before you commit money, confirm with the program — and if the two disagree, the admissions office wins. ); }; export default CaapidApplicationCosts; How much does it cost to apply to an advanced standing dental program?
