High Point Dental School Interview: DMD 2026-27
High Point University DMD guide from its own pages: Kira first, then an in-person day with three 10-minute faculty interviews; no DAT; Nov 1 deadline.
High Point requires a Kira video assessment before it will consider you for an interview, then interviews in person: a day of about 3.5 hours with three 10-minute one-on-one faculty interviews, a haptic procedure simulation and a flipped classroom demo. Here is what HPU publishes, what applicants report, and how to prepare. return ( <> High Point DMD Requirements and Class Profile High Point University's Workman School of Dental Medicine, in High Point, North Carolina, welcomed its first class of 60 students in the fall of 2024, and its second cohort of 60 started in 2025 in a new three-story building on HPU's campus. The DMD is a four-year, year-round program built on what HPU calls its CARE curriculum (Clinician, Advocate, Researcher, Entrepreneur), with 60 learners per cohort. HPU runs its own admissions: it doesn't use AADSAS, charges no application fee, and doesn't require or even collect the DAT. It asks for no letters of
recommendation and sets no prerequisite courses. It does require a Kira assessment before it will consider you for an interview, and its interview day is in person only. For the 2026–27 cycle, which fills the class that starts in early August 2027, the application is due November 1, 2026. This is what HPU's 2026–27 pages ask for: Item. What HPU says (2026–27). Application. HPU's own application in the Slate portal on its website; HPU is “NOT participating in the ADEA/ AADSAS application”. Application fee. None; “the only associated cost is the Kira assessment,” an estimated one-time fee of $50. Deadline. November 1, 2026, 11:59 PM Eastern Time; Kira completed by November 8, 2026. Kira. Required: “Without your Kira assessment, your application will not be considered for an interview”. DAT. Not required; “the team does NOT collect or review DAT scores”. Prerequisite courses. None required; HPU publishes a menu of recommended courses
(below). Bachelor's degree. A US bachelor's degree, completed by the August you start; it can still be in progress when you apply. GPA. A 3.0 minimum, worded two ways in the same FAQ answer (below). Letters of recommendation. Not accepted, including committee letters and Interfolio packets. Personal statement. None; the application's Reflection section has “brief prompts”. Shadowing. No required number of hours; zero shadowing affects a “ready” rating. Transcripts. Unofficial only, until a conditional offer of admission. HPU's class profile, a one-page infographic, covers its first two classes. It reports a GPA but no DAT figure, because HPU doesn't collect DAT scores: Figure. Class of 2028 (entered fall 2024). Class of 2029 (entered fall 2025). Average GPA (bachelor's). 3.35. 3.34. North Carolina residents. 19. 21. Average age. 26.4. 24.7. Top undergraduate majors. Biology, public health, biological sciences, dental hygiene. Biology,
dental hygiene, chemistry, health science, public health. No DAT, so no DAT scale to decode. HPU's 2026–2027 admission model says "Please do not include DAT scores in narrative components of the application, the team does NOT collect or review DAT scores," and its FAQ says the application has no place to upload one. The 3.35 and 3.34 above are the only academic averages on the HPU pages we read. On grades, its FAQ says "Your GPA will be considered, but your GPA alone is not a determining factor." The profile also says "30 STATES REPRESENTED," and its gender counts for each class add up to 60 (the sums are ours). The pages we read give no acceptance rate and no applicant or offer counts for any class. The 3.0 GPA rule: HPU's FAQ words it two ways. The same FAQ answer says "Candidates must have a minimum cumulative 3.0 undergraduate GPA to apply. If the candidate possesses an undergraduate GPA below a 3.0, a 3.0 or greater Master's degree
GPA will also be considered," and then "Due to the competitive nature of our dental school and the WSDM applicant pool, applications with a 3.0 or lower undergraduate GPA will not be considered." Take the stricter reading: plan on an undergraduate GPA above 3.0, and if yours is 3.0 or below, even with a master's GPA of 3.0 or higher, confirm with DMDAdmissions@highpoint.edu before you apply. In state or out of state? HPU says "There are no in-state or out-of-state requirements–approximately 30% of our applicants reside in North Carolina and we have applicants from 49 states." As a private school, its tuition "will be the same for in-state and out-of-state residents," and it says "we do not have limits on the number of in-state or out-of-state candidates for our cohort." Its class profile counts 19 North Carolina residents in the Class of 2028 and 21 in the Class of 2029. Residence, visas and degrees for 2026–27. For this cycle, HPU's
FAQ says "our program does NOT accept candidates who have a permanent residence outside of the United States. All candidates must be considered permanent US residents to be eligible for admission and CANNOT require an additional visa to remain in the country for their education," and that "a United States bachelor's degree is required to apply." Applicants with an H1B or H4 visa "will be reviewed in-depth" to make sure the visa covers the full program and that they can fund it, and HPU "may accept well-qualified DACA applicants so long as they provide evidence of their ability to resource their dental education." It says it is working toward accepting Canadian bachelor's degrees and F1 students in future cycles. It doesn't accept transfers from other dental schools. A newer school: what initial accreditation means here. HPU's DMD "has been granted the accreditation status of “initial accreditation”" by the Commission on Dental
Accreditation (CODA). Its FAQ says "we are on track to receive our full accreditation upon graduating our first class," at a final site visit "in 2028 with the graduating class," and that students are eligible for federal loans. It also warns: "Certain health-specific and military-specific funding opportunities require full accreditation by the Commission on Dental Accreditation–please verify with their granting body about whether HPU will qualify if you are interested." If you are counting on a military or health-service scholarship, ask that program first. Prerequisite coursework: none required HPU's 2026–2027 admission model says "there is no age of coursework rule" and "Table 1 offers recommended courses that may connect to specific CARE roles of interest—these are NOT admission requirements. Online courses, certificate programs, Advanced Placement, and International Baccalaureate programs are also applicable evidence of readiness."
The table prints its most preferred courses in bold. These are the bold ones: CARE role. Most preferred courses (bold in HPU's Table 1). Clinician. Cellular/molecular biology; genetics; human anatomy/physiology; medical terminology; microbiology/immunology; neuroanatomy/neuroscience; nutrition; parasitology/virology. Advocate. Education/teaching; ethics/bioethics; foreign language; law/legal practices; political science; public/population health; race/gender/diversity studies. Researcher. Analytics/data science/informatics; engineering; epidemiology; implementation/translational science; psychology/sociology; research methods; statistics/biostatistics. Entrepreneur. Accounting/financial management; communication/marketing/sales; computer science; personnel management/teamwork; strategic management/planning; technology (artificial, virtual, augmented). A menu, not a checklist: general and organic chemistry, biochemistry, physics and
general biology are in the same table but not in bold. HPU says "Learners are NOT expected to complete all the courses listed—this is a menu of options," and its FAQ adds that "It will not negatively reflect your application if you do not have an evenly distributed transcript." Its application review lists "Multiple preferred courses" among the highlights of an academic record and "Few advanced courses" among its notable observations. Bachelor's degree: any major. HPU's FAQ says "The degree does not have to be completed at the time of application, but does by the time of matriculation the following August," and that "non-science majors are also encouraged to apply!" For 2026–27 it must be a United States bachelor's degree. (HPU's undergraduate pre-dental page says the dental school does "NOT have required degrees," without saying whether it means a degree or a major; its DMD FAQ and admission model require a bachelor's degree, and those
are the pages to follow.) Transcripts: upload unofficial transcripts; official ones are "only expected when a conditional offer of admission is given." If you are starting a new program and have no transcript yet, HPU asks you to list your registered courses and, for the GPA, to "use the numbers 99 out of 99 to indicate it has not occurred yet." Experiences: "In general, work, volunteer, immersive, and team/leadership experiences are the most preferred method to demonstrate readiness," and candidates are "encouraged to demonstrate a mixture of healthcare and non-healthcare related experiences with both intermittent and longitudinal encounters." Shadowing: "we do NOT require a standard number of shadowing hours to apply. If the applicant has zero shadowing on their application, this will influence their consideration of a “ready” status for the WSDM." HPU also says "we very strongly encourage shadowing different oral health specialties
for exposure to all disciplines." No letters, no personal statement: HPU's application has no place for letters of recommendation, which "were determined to have minimal impact on application decisions in previous cycles," and it doesn't accept committee letters or Interfolio packets. Instead of a personal statement, the Reflection section has brief prompts, and HPU encourages candidates to complete them "independently without additional assistance, including from artificial intelligence models." After you submit: "changes to an application cannot be made after submission." The FAQ says "Additional transcripts or documents can be uploaded" through the portal; the admission model allows only "a new, unofficial transcript" and says other documents, such as DAT reports, letters and letters of intent, are "NOT permitted." Upload only a new unofficial transcript. To confirm anything, email DMDAdmissions@highpoint.edu. HPU suggests candidates
not call or email individual team members, says you "should receive a response within a few business days," and asks for a follow-up if you hear nothing after a week. It doesn't meet applicants on campus during the cycle, and its campus tours, run by Graduate Admissions, "DO NOT guarantee interactions with our team." Kira: Required Before HPU Will Interview You HPU's FAQ says "We highly recommend completing the Kira assessment as soon as possible. Without your Kira assessment, your application will not be considered for an interview." Its 2026–2027 admission model adds that "Kira assessment scores must be received before an interview offer may be granted," and that "Applications are considered incomplete until the Kira scores are received by the program." Its FAQ and admission model set out the order: Step. What HPU says. 1. Submit your application. “you will be required to submit your application before taking your Kira assessment”. 2.
Get your Kira link. A unique invitation link: “Please allow up to 72 hours for your Kira assessment link to be sent to you”. 3. Complete Kira within two weeks. “you will have a two (2) week window to get it done”; the last date this cycle is November 8, 2026, and “no exceptions will be made”. 4. Scoring. About two weeks to score, and up to two more weeks before the portal shows it was received; your score is “not visible to the applicant”. 5. Interview decision. Kira scores must be received “before an interview offer may be granted”. Video, one way, one sitting: "On Kira, you'll be asked to submit timed video responses to questions that have been pre-recorded by our team. Each question will have a designated amount of prep and response time, and you can track your remaining time for each question on the screen." HPU calls it "a one-way interview," and "Once you begin the formal assessment, you are required to complete it in one
sitting." HPU's own questions: HPU says Kira lets it "ask program-specific questions to determine candidate alignment with WSDM's mission, values, and competencies," and its admission model says "our admissions team developed all competency questions that will be asked of applicants." The FAQ calls Kira "a great way for you to showcase your unique personality, communication skills, and other important attributes." Time and practice: set aside "at least 30-45 minutes," which allows for a welcome video and practice questions. Your practice answers "will not be considered in the evaluation and scoring of your Kira assessment." Equipment: a laptop or desktop is recommended, with a camera, a microphone (headphones work), speakers and a stable internet connection. Phones and tablets are supported: Safari on iOS, Chrome on Android. Cost and limits: "an estimated one-time fee of $50." You get one Kira assessment per cycle, and it is "required
each application cycle, even if you have taken one in a previous cycle." Integrity: Kira "tracks suspicious and/or fraudulent applicant behavior" and reports it to HPU, including "browser refreshes, technical issues, and internet disconnections." A violation of academic integrity "will directly impact your eligibility for a potential interview invitation." Test your setup and your connection before you start. How HPU uses it: "The Kira assessment serves as an enhancement for applicants. If a candidate is rated Ready by our faculty, the Kira score has little influence on the potential for an interview. If there are concerns raised in the application review, a high Kira score can increase the probability of a potential interview." HPU adds that "high Kira scores are associated with our ratings of readiness determined through our interview process," and that Kira "notifies programs of behavioral concerns based on how individuals respond to
the scenario." Our list of dental schools that use Kira explains how the platform works at other schools; HPU's own invitation is the authority on its version. Leave yourself the full two weeks. HPU warns that if you submit on November 1, you "would have less than a week to complete the Kira assessment, instead of the full two (2) week window." Counting back from November 8 (our arithmetic), the full window needs your link by about October 25, and HPU says the link can take up to 72 hours to arrive. Interview offers also wait on your Kira score, which takes about two weeks, so the earlier you submit, the better on every count. CASPer or Duet? Some HPU text still says Acuity. HPU's FAQ names Kira for "the 2026-2027 Admissions cycle" and explains that "In previous cycles, applicants were required to schedule their assessments ahead of time." Its 2025–2026 Graduate Bulletin listed "the Acuity Insights (Casper & Duet) assessments" as the
only cost. Older wording is still on the 2026–27 pages: the FAQ's answer on interview decisions refers to an "Acuity assessment score" and to "Acuity performance," and the admission model mentions "Acuity Insights" and taking "both assessments." None of the 2026–27 HPU pages we read asks applicants to take Casper or Duet. Take Kira, and if you are unsure whether anything else is needed, ask DMDAdmissions@highpoint.edu before you pay for another test. The High Point Interview: What the School Says In person only. "The WSDM does not offer online or virtual interview options at this time." HPU explains that virtual interviews "do not permit candidates to interact with the haptic simulators, tour the campus, and complete group exercises to the same extent as an in-person opportunity." About 3.5 hours. "The interview with our team is approximately 3.5 hours long with a mixture of individual and team-based experiences." The FAQ lists them:
Part of the day. HPU's words (its DMD FAQ). Individual interviews. “Three 10-minute one-on-one interviews with WSDM faculty”. Procedure simulation. “A dental-related procedure simulation using haptic technology”. Classroom. “A flipped classroom demo to experience the classroom learning model”. Tour. “A tour of the Workman Hall”. Close. “a question-and-answer session with our team before an optional tour of HPU main campus facilities and amenities”. Only the individual interviews are graded. "The individual interview is the only graded activity where evaluators use standardized rubrics to review performance and minimize bias by focusing on observable behaviors." But "All activities during the interview day are observed by evaluators for candidate highlights and concerns to ultimately inform the admissions team," so treat the whole day as part of the interview. By email, on select Fridays. If you are invited, an email asks you to register
for a date and time through the applicant portal and to submit a 2X2 passport photo. "Interviews will be available on select Fridays during the interview cycle with approximately one interview date per month. Sign-up for interviews occurs on a first-reserved basis. Later in the admission cycle, interview spaces are much more limited and difficult to secure." Before the day. "Candidates are sent a guide that outlines interview expectations and methods to prepare." Leading up to the interview, HPU also sends travel and lodging information and asks candidates to complete a single pre-interview activity to prepare them for the on-site experience. HPU says "Candidates are encouraged to be their authentic selves, ask difficult questions, and come prepared for an enriching experience." After the day. "Interviewers will make independent recommendations for candidate readiness," and those who interacted with the candidates debrief at the
conclusion of the interview session. A separate committee of WSDM faculty, which "does not include the Dean," decides from "de-identified data (i.e., no information about the candidate beyond the evaluation data and observations – no names, age, schools attended, etc.)." The outcomes are conditional acceptance, active reserve or reapply next cycle. HPU's 2026–2027 admission model describes the interview activities a little differently: "One-to-one faculty & personnel interviews," a "Simulated instructional experience," "Collaborative problem-solving tasks," "Creativity & communication activities" and a "Haptic simulation exercise." An undated interview-day schedule page on HPU's site shows a morning session (check-in at 8:00 a.m., ending with a campus tour from 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.) and an afternoon session (check-in at 12:00 p.m., tour until 5:00 p.m.), each with a welcome, "Procedure Simulations" and "Group Activities." It doesn't
show when the one-on-one interviews fall; it says "a detailed schedule will be given upon check-in" and that the schedule may change. It tells you on arrival to "proceed to the Congdon Hall parking deck" and says "Check-in will be in the lobby of the Workman School of Dental Medicine"; if the travel information HPU sends before your interview differs, follow that. HPU publishes sample criteria for the individual interviews (its Table 4, "Sample criteria evaluated during individual interview experiences"): HPU's rating. Sample criteria for the individual interview. Highlight. Connected to experiences; confidence in response; explored all possible options; novel responses to prompts; questions for the evaluator. Notable observation. Lack of depth to response; timid or required prompting; verbose or not concise; too focused on “right” answer; missed viable options/actions. Concern. Did not address the prompt; disengaged or distracted; lack
of emotional intelligence (confrontational or aggressive; overly confident or arrogant). Ten minutes each: answer the way HPU's criteria read. Three 10-minute interviews leave little room, and HPU notes both "Verbose or not concise" and "Lack of depth to response." Answer the question you were asked, tie it to something you actually did, and on a scenario lay out more than one option before you choose: "Explored all possible options" is a highlight, while "Too focused on “right” answer" is a notable observation. Bring a question for each interviewer, since "Questions for the evaluator" is on HPU's list of highlights. What applicants report These are posts on a public applicant forum, and an invite tracker that a forum volunteer compiles there from applicants' reports, not HPU's words: This cycle (2026–27): the forum's invite tracker, last updated 25 September 2026, lists High Point's first invitations on 23 July 2026 and a first
interview date of 21 August, in person. In the forum's High Point thread for this cycle, one out-of-state applicant who applied on May 1 posted on 23 July that they had been notified by email that morning and that their interview was set for August 21 at 8:30 am, and added "From what I saw August 21st was the only available date." Another applicant, applying for the second time, posted the same day that they had been invited too and wrote "from what I've been told they only interview one Friday a month." On 4 October 2026, replying to an applicant who interviewed on August 21, one forum member posted that people from the first interview date "got acceptances on September 9,2026." No one in the thread had described the interview's questions or activities by 7 October. Last cycle (2025–26): the tracker listed High Point's first invitations on 29 July 2025 and a first interview date of 21 August, in person. One applicant who applied "the
first day it was open" posted on 6 October 2025 that they had an interview on September 5 and "got a call 2 weeks later with an acceptance," and that the invitation email let you schedule your interview, "usually giving 4 dates to choose from within a 2 month span." One out-of-state applicant, still in college and with no DAT submitted, posted on 6 November 2025 that they applied in July and were invited in August for November 7, "an in-person interview during their interview day from 12-5pm." Later posts by the same applicant (21 November and 3 December) report an acceptance call about two weeks after the interview, dated November 21 in one post and November 20 in the other. Three applicants posted that they interviewed on December 12, 2025, and one of them wrote on 2 January 2026 "They have interviews next Friday." One who interviewed on the afternoon of December 12 posted on 5 January 2026 that they had received an acceptance call.
Another who interviewed that day answered "I did" on 16 January 2026 when another member asked who had been waitlisted or put on active reserve, then posted on 6 March 2026 "Accepted today via call." Last cycle's applicants discussed their Casper results (HPU's 2025–2026 bulletin named "Casper & Duet"); this cycle's applicants describe taking Kira, though this cycle's thread opens with a post (27 May 2026) that still says HPU "does require Casper & Duet Assessment." No post in either thread described the questions, the one-on-one interviews, the simulation or the group activities. What HPU doesn't publish. Its interview questions and Kira questions, whether your interviewers will have read your application, whether the three one-on-one interviews are with three different people, what the pre-interview activity is, and this cycle's interview dates beyond "select Fridays" and "approximately one interview date per month." Invitees get a
preparation guide from HPU; read it closely, and prepare to tell your own story briefly, since nothing on HPU's pages says your interviewers will have read your file. High Point's 2026–27 Admissions Timeline When. What HPU says. May 1, 2026. The application opened: “The application will be available May 1st for the 2026-2027 Admissions cycle”. May–July 2026. HPU's suggested window: “All candidates are encouraged to apply early (May-July) to be considered for interview and additional scholarships”. Up to 72 hours after you submit. Your Kira link arrives; you then have two weeks to complete Kira. From June–July
2026. Interview invitations: “August interview invitations will begin in June-July and continue through as late as November in the admissions cycle”. August–December 2026. Interviews “between August and December” (its admission model), in person on select Fridays, about one date a month (its FAQ); the FAQ also refers to interviews ending “no later than February”. As early as 14 days after an interview. Rolling offers: acceptances “can occur as early as 14 days following an interview”. October 17, 2026. Health Sciences Open House on the HPU campus, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, for DMD and other programs. November 1, 2026, 11:59 PM Eastern. Application deadline: “There are no exceptions, and applications cannot be submitted after the deadline”. November 8, 2026. Last date to complete Kira, “one week after our application deadline”. After an offer. “During most of the cycle,” a $1,000 non-refundable deposit within 30 days of the offer, applied to
first-year tuition. HPU's “anticipated timelines” by month of admission: August to March 1, a $1,000 deposit; after March 1 to July 1, a $500 deposit; July 1, 48 hours to confirm, deposit waived. Mid-June 2027. Official transcripts for all completed coursework due (for admitted learners who have paid a deposit; one of the pre-enrollment activities HPU says its checklist “often” includes). First week of August 2027. Classes begin (“Learners start the CARE curriculum the first week of August”); your bachelor's degree must be complete by then. HPU's admissions are rolling: its FAQ says it can "make offers of admission soon after each interview day," that decisions "are expected to begin in August," and that "once the 60 spots have been confirmed, remaining candidates are only eligible for either active reserve or reapply next cycle." If spaces remain, interviewed candidates on active reserve are "voted on alongside newly interviewed
candidates for potential admission." When do interviews end? HPU's pages differ. HPU's 2026–2027 admission model says "Candidates may be invited for an interview scheduled between August and December of the application cycle," and "Early applicants will be prioritized for the first interview dates." Its FAQ says invitations "continue through as late as November" and refers to interviews concluding "no later than February." Applicants reported interview days into January last cycle. Plan on the stricter reading, an interview by December, apply as early as you can, and confirm with DMDAdmissions@highpoint.edu. HPU's 2025–2026 bulletin carries older rules. HPU's 2025–2026 Graduate Bulletin (its bulletins page lists none for 2026–2027) says "The application is available in May and closes in December of each admissions cycle," lists "the Acuity Insights (Casper & Duet) assessments" as the only cost, and offers "An early commitment option for
priority evaluation, interview, and admissions offers." HPU's FAQ says the Early Commitment option "was discontinued for the 2025-2026 admissions cycle and future cycles," and its 2026–27 pages give November 1, 2026 and Kira. Go by the 2026–27 pages, and confirm anything unclear with DMDAdmissions@highpoint.edu. Dental Medicine Scholars: a separate route for HPU undergraduates. HPU's accelerated BS/DMD program is only for students who have spent at least one academic year as High Point undergraduates; they apply by July 31, and those who meet its criteria "will be guaranteed an interview (online and/or in-person) with the admissions team." HPU says its requirements "do NOT reflect requirements for applicants who are applying to the program broadly." HPU doesn't say how that interview relates to the interview day described above; its FAQ's general answer is "The WSDM does not offer online or virtual interview options at this time." If
you apply through this route, confirm the format with DMDAdmissions@highpoint.edu. What High Point Looks For HPU says it is "seeking motivated, adaptive, and eager future oral healthcare providers who have a passion for dentistry, a commitment to serving their communities, a curiosity for learning, and a desire to lead innovative practice spaces that promote better oral health." It adds that there is no "one size fits all" answer and recommends you "be yourself as much as possible." Reviewers rate each section of your application "ready, may be ready, or not ready yet," and its review criteria, its sample interview criteria and its CARE roles make a useful checklist for the interview: Self-awareness and honesty: for the Reflection section, HPU lists "High self-awareness" and "Rationale for challenges" among its highlights, and "Lack of self-awareness" and "Dishonesty or hyperbole" among its concerns. Be ready to explain a setback
plainly and say what you changed. Breadth and depth of experience: highlights include "Diverse/immersive experience," "Research present/publication" and "Non-academic awards(s)"; concerns include "No work or volunteering" and "No shadowing/exposure." The first of the "most common observations for improvement" HPU shares with applicants asked to reapply is "Demonstrating a sufficient breadth and depth of experiences based on their situation." Communication: HPU's "Ready" rating includes "appropriate comprehension and communication skills," and it wants reflection answers that show "effective communication skills expected of a doctoral candidate." It calls Kira a way to showcase your "communication skills." Thinking through options: HPU's sample interview criteria list "Explored all possible options" and "Novel responses to prompts" as highlights and "Missed viable options/actions" as a notable observation. Practice talking through a
dilemma: the options, what you would weigh, and why you would choose one. Following directions: "Followed directions/request" is a highlight of the Reflection section, and "Unable to follow directions" is a concern among the attestations. Read every prompt, every Kira instruction and the interview guide closely. Service and advocacy: the Advocate role says "We prioritize person-centered care for those we serve" and "We advance systems that improve healthcare access." HPU's dental school "regularly provides free care to community members, including veterans, teachers and first responders," and in June 2026 its students, faculty and staff provided more than $33,000 in free care to immigrant and refugee families. Have one specific story from your own service. HPU's values: its admission model is "designed to support a culture that represents our core values of compassion, integrity, growth, innovation, and collaboration," and its mission
is "To put the people who need our care at the center of everything we do." Why High Point? Start with its CARE curriculum. HPU's CARE roles describe the dentist it wants to train: a Clinician who will "integrate the best available science into our practice," an Advocate, a Researcher who will "apply systematic processes of inquiry and evaluation," and an Entrepreneur who will "implement innovative solutions adaptive to future needs." The curriculum is year-round, in 6-week modules, and "a true pass/no pass system that emphasizes well-being and teamwork." Students start supporting HPU's own dental practices in the seventh week of the program, up to one day a week in the first year and two in the second, rising to five days a week in years three and four. Summers are spent on campus on Researcher and Entrepreneur projects. The dean's message lists haptics simulation, virtual and augmented reality, artificial intelligence and 3D scanning,
design and printing among its training methods. Pick the role you most want to grow into and connect it to something you have already done. The practice questions below are ours, built on these criteria. HPU does not publish its interview questions or its Kira questions. Internationally trained dentist? HPU's FAQ describes no advanced standing program, and for 2026–27 it requires a US bachelor's degree and doesn't accept candidates who have a permanent residence outside the United States; it doesn't accept transfers from other dental schools either. ); }; export default HighPointDentalSchoolInterview; high-point-dental-school-interview High Point University Workman School of Dental Medicine High Point High Point Dental School Interview (DMD) 2026- Kira In-Person Faculty Interviews & Requirements High Point Dental School DMD 2026-27 High Point University DMD guide from its own Kira first then an in-person day with three 10-minute faculty

assessment “your application will not be considered for an interview.” Degree DMD (four years year round; classes begin the first week of August) High Point North Carolina Interview Setting In person only (“does not offer online or virtual interview options at this time”) Interview Format Three 10-minute one-on-one interviews with WSDM faculty the only graded activity Interview Day About 3.5 also a haptic procedure simulation a flipped classroom demo a tour of Workman Hall and a closing Q&A Interviews Select Fridays about one date a month; August–December (its admission model; its FAQ says interviews end “no later than February”) CASPer / Kira Kira required before any interview offer (an estimated $50); none of the 2026–27 HPU pages we read asks for Casper Deadline November 1 2026 59 PM Eastern; Kira completed by November 8 2026 Application HPU s own Slate application not AADSAS; no application fee DAT Not required; HPU doesn t collect

High Point does not publish its interview or
Kira questions; these are practice questions built on what it says it weighs. Each of its three one-on-one faculty interviews lasts 10 minutes and HPU s pages don t say whether your interviewers will have read your application so build a 60-to-90-second answer that stands on its who you are the experiences that led you to dentistry and why HPU is the next step. HPU s interview criteria flag “Verbose or not concise ” so time yourself. Why dentistry? HPU seeks future providers “who have a passion for dentistry a commitment to serving their communities a curiosity for learning and a desire to lead innovative practice spaces that promote better oral health.” It sets no number of shadowing hours but zero shadowing affects a “ready” rating and it “very strongly” encourages shadowing different oral health specialties. Anchor your answer in something specific you saw ideally in more than one setting and say what it confirmed for you. Why High
Point? Use what HPU says about its the CARE curriculum (Clinician Advocate Researcher Entrepreneur) “a true pass/no pass system that emphasizes well-being and teamwork ” year-round 6-week modules work in HPU s own dental practices from the seventh week of the program and summers on campus spent on Researcher and Entrepreneur projects. Connect one of them to how you want to learn and the dentist you want to become; a free application and no DAT are not reasons on their own. Which CARE role do you see yourself growing into and why? HPU s CARE roles describe the dentist it wants to a Clinician who will “integrate the best available science into our practice ” an Advocate who will “prioritize person-centered care for those we serve ” a Researcher who will “apply systematic processes of inquiry and evaluation” and an Entrepreneur who will “implement innovative solutions adaptive to future needs.” Its admission model says candidates ready for
admission have interests “that may align to one or more CARE roles.” Pick one connect it to something you have already done and say how you would build on it at HPU. Behavioral Tell me about a setback and what you changed afterward. HPU s application review lists “High self-awareness” and “Rationale for challenges” among its highlights and “Lack of self-awareness” and “Dishonesty or hyperbole” among its concerns. Describe a real setback briefly take responsibility without excuses and spend most of your time on what you changed and what improved. Tell me about a time you solved a problem as part of a team. HPU s admission model lists “Collaborative problem-solving tasks” among its interview activities its Clinician role says “We provide safe and quality team-based care for our patients ” and its curriculum “emphasizes well-being and teamwork.” Keep the setup short show what you contributed and how you listened and say what the team
achieved. Tell me about your community service. What did it teach you? HPU seeks “a commitment to serving their communities ” its Advocate role says “We promote health within ourselves our communities and the public ” and its dental school “regularly provides free care to community members including veterans teachers and first responders.” Pick one experience ideally one you kept up over time (HPU encourages “both intermittent and longitudinal encounters”) and say what it taught you about the people you served. Tell me about something you taught yourself. HPU looks for “a curiosity for learning” and for candidates “prepared for an immersive self-directed and patient-centered learning journey ” and its interview day includes a flipped classroom demo. Pick something you learned on your own explain how you went about it and how you checked that you had it right and connect it to learning in a self-directed curriculum. Ethical / Scenario A
patient needs treatment they cannot afford. What do you do? HPU s mission is “To put the people who need our care at the center of everything we do ” and its Advocate role says “We advance systems that improve healthcare access.” Acknowledge the patient without judgment lay out the legitimate options such as phased treatment or a community clinic and never lower the standard of care. HPU s interview criteria count “Explored all possible options” as a highlight and “Missed viable options/actions” as a notable observation so show your reasoning rather than racing to one answer. A patient asks for a treatment you don t think is in their best interest. What do you do? HPU s Clinician role says “We integrate the best available science into our practice ” and its Advocate role says “We prioritize person-centered care for those we serve.” Show that you would listen to the patient s reasons explain the options and their risks in plain words
involve your supervising dentist and respect the patient s decision without abandoning the standard of care. A member of your small group isn t doing their share. What do you do? HPU s first- and second-year schedule includes “small group learning with their peers ” and its curriculum is “a true pass/no pass system that emphasizes well-being and teamwork.” Talk to your classmate privately first find out what is going on and offer help and involve faculty only if it continues. Show that fairness to the group and respect for the person can go together. You see a classmate cheating on an exam. What do you do? Integrity is one of HPU s five core values “Academic integrity concerns” are a concern in its application review and on Kira HPU says a violation of academic integrity “will directly impact your eligibility for a potential interview invitation.” Describe an escalation path from a direct conversation to the proper channels and say why
integrity matters when patients trust your license. Apply in May–July and leave Kira its full two weeks HPU encourages applying “early (May-July) to be considered for interview and additional scholarships ” and interview offers wait on your Kira score. Your Kira link comes after you submit (allow up to 72 hours) you then have two weeks and scoring takes about two weeks more. Interviews are on select Fridays about one date a month sign-up is first-reserved and “Later in the admission cycle interview spaces are much more limited and difficult to secure.” The hard deadlines are November 1 2026 for the application and November 8 for Kira. Answer the way HPU s interview criteria read Each one-on-one interview lasts 10 minutes. HPU s sample criteria count “Connected to experiences ” “Explored all possible options ” “Novel responses to prompts” and “Questions for the evaluator” as highlights and “Verbose or not concise ” “Lack of depth to
response” and “Too focused on ‘right’ answer” as notable observations. Answer the question you were asked tie it to something you did lay out more than one option on a scenario and bring a question for each interviewer. Treat the whole day as the interview Only the individual interviews are graded but “All activities during the interview day are observed by evaluators for candidate highlights and concerns to ultimately inform the admissions team.” The day also includes a haptic procedure simulation a flipped classroom demo and group activities and HPU says “Candidates are encouraged to be their authentic selves ask difficult questions and come prepared for an enriching experience.” Read the preparation guide HPU sends invitees and complete its single pre-interview activity. Follow directions and send nothing extra HPU s review lists “Followed directions/request” as a highlight and “Unable to follow directions” as a concern. It doesn t
accept letters of recommendation personal statements or DAT scores and it encourages candidates to complete the Reflection prompts “independently without additional assistance including from artificial intelligence models.” After you submit its admission model allows only a new unofficial transcript (its FAQ says “Additional transcripts or documents can be uploaded”); upload nothing else and don t contact the team for status updates unless you believe there is a specific error. HPU s DMD FAQ says “The interview with our team is approximately 3.5 hours long with a mixture of individual and team-based experiences ” including “Three 10-minute one-on-one interviews with WSDM faculty ” “A dental-related procedure simulation using haptic technology ” “A flipped classroom demo to experience the classroom learning model” and “A tour of the Workman Hall ” and it ends with a question-and-answer session. “The individual interview is the only graded activity where evaluators use standardized rubrics ” but “All activities during the interview day are observed by evaluators.” HPU s 2026–2027 admission model lists “One-to-one faculty & personnel interviews ” a “Simulated instructional experience ” “Collaborative problem-solving tasks ” “Creativity & communication activities” and a “Haptic
simulation exercise.” HPU doesn t publish its questions or say whether your interviewers will have read your application. Is the High Point dental interview virtual or in person? In person only. HPU s FAQ says “The WSDM does not offer online or virtual interview options at this time ” because virtual interviews “do not permit candidates to interact with the haptic simulators tour the campus and complete group exercises to the same extent as an in-person opportunity.” Interviews are offered “on select Fridays during the interview cycle with approximately one interview date per month ” and invitees register through the applicant portal and submit a 2X2 passport photo. The forum s invite tracker which a volunteer compiles from applicants reports lists High Point s interviews as in person in 2025–26 and 2026–27. HPU describes the interview it guarantees to qualifying Dental Medicine Scholars a route only for HPU undergraduates as “online
and/or in-person” and doesn t say how it relates to the interview day; those applicants should confirm the format with DMDAdmissions@highpoint.edu. Does High Point use the MMI? No HPU page we read uses the term or describes stations. Its FAQ describes “Three 10-minute one-on-one interviews with WSDM faculty ” the only graded part of the day alongside a haptic procedure simulation a flipped classroom demo and a tour; its admission model adds “Collaborative problem-solving tasks” and “Creativity & communication activities ” and its undated interview-day schedule lists “Group Activities.” Prepare for short one-on-one interviews scored with standardized rubrics (HPU publishes sample criteria) and for being observed in group activities. No post in a public applicant forum s 2025–26 or 2026–27 High Point threads described the interviews content. Does High Point require Kira or CASPer for dental school? Kira. HPU s FAQ says “Without your Kira
assessment your application will not be considered for an interview ” and its 2026–2027 admission model says “Kira assessment scores must be received before an interview offer may be granted.” You submit your application first; the Kira link can take up to 72 hours you then have two weeks and the last date this cycle is November 8 2026. Kira at HPU is a timed one-way video assessment taken in one sitting with questions HPU s admissions team wrote for “an estimated one-time fee of $50.” HPU s 2025–2026 bulletin named Acuity s Casper and Duet and two passages on the 2026–27 pages still mention Acuity but none of the 2026–27 HPU pages we read asks applicants to take Casper or Duet. If you re unsure ask DMDAdmissions@highpoint.edu. What GPA and DAT do I need for High Point dental school? No HPU s FAQ says “The DAT (Dental Admission Test) is NOT an admission requirement for HPU WSDM ” and its admission model says “the team does NOT collect
or review DAT scores ” so HPU publishes no DAT figures on either scale. For GPA one FAQ answer says both “Candidates must have a minimum cumulative 3.0 undergraduate GPA to apply” (below 3.0 a master s GPA of 3.0 or higher “will also be considered”) and “applications with a 3.0 or lower undergraduate GPA will not be considered.” Plan on an undergraduate GPA above 3.0 and confirm with DMDAdmissions@highpoint.edu if yours is 3.0 or lower. HPU s class profile reports average bachelor s GPAs of 3.35 for the Class of 2028 and 3.34 for the Class of 2029 and its FAQ says “Your GPA will be considered but your GPA alone is not a determining factor.” Does High Point accept out-of-state applicants? Yes. HPU s FAQ says “There are no in-state or out-of-state requirements–approximately 30% of our applicants reside in North Carolina and we have applicants from 49 states ” and as a private school its tuition “will be the same for in-state and
out-of-state residents ” with no limits on the number of in-state or out-of-state candidates. Its class profile counts 19 North Carolina residents in the Class of 2028 and 21 in the Class of 2029 in cohorts of 60. For 2026–27 HPU requires a United States bachelor s degree and doesn t accept candidates who have a permanent residence outside the US or who need an additional visa for their education; applicants with an H1B or H4 visa are reviewed in depth and well-qualified DACA applicants may be accepted with evidence that they can fund their education. When is the High Point DMD application deadline? November 1 2026 at 59 PM Eastern Time for HPU s own application in its Slate portal (HPU isn t on AADSAS and charges no application fee): “There are no exceptions and applications cannot be submitted after the deadline.” The last date to complete Kira is November 8 2026. Don t wait for the application opened May 1 HPU encourages applying
“early (May-July) to be considered for interview and additional scholarships ” and its FAQ says interview invitations “begin in June-July and continue through as late as November.” Admissions are rolling and HPU warns that submitting on November 1 leaves “less than a week” for Kira instead of the full two weeks. Is High Point s dental school accredited? Yes with “initial accreditation” from the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) which HPU s accreditation page defines as “the developing educational program has the potential for meeting the accreditation standards.” HPU s FAQ says “We have received initial accreditation in August 2023 ” that “we are on track to receive our full accreditation upon graduating our first class ” and that the final site visit “occurs in 2028 with the graduating class.” Students are eligible for federal loans but HPU notes that “Certain health-specific and military-specific funding opportunities require
full accreditation by the Commission on Dental Accreditation”: if you are counting on one ask that program whether HPU qualifies.
