KCU Dental School Interview: DMD 2026-27

KCU College of Dental Medicine DMD guide from its own pages: a formal personal interview by invitation, an Aug–Feb window and a Feb 1 catalog deadline.

KCU invites selected applicants to “a formal personal interview,” with interviews running August through February on two of its pages. Here is what KCU publishes, where its own pages disagree, what applicants report, and how to prepare. return ( <> KCU DMD Requirements Kansas City University's College of Dental Medicine (KCU-CDM) is in Joplin, Missouri, and its four-year pre-doctoral program leads to a doctor of dental medicine degree (DMD). Its DMD page says "KCU-CDM received initial accreditation in February 2022 from the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA)," and its accreditation page lists the program's status as "initial accreditation." It is a young program: a news post on its Class of 2030 says the class brought the program to "full enrollment three years after welcoming the inaugural class in 2023." KCU is taking applications for this cycle. Its 2026-2027 catalog says "students may submit applications as early as June 2026

for a Fall 2027 start date," and its requirements page gives "August 2027 entry" as its example. You apply through AADSAS and, if KCU invites you, its secondary application. KCU describes admission as competitive and based on a "whole file review" process over these factors: academic background (grade point averages, performance trends, dental admission test scores, academic rigor and course load), maturity, motivation, professionalism, recommendations, the interview, communication skills and state of residence. That phrase describes how the committee reviews applications; KCU doesn't say whether your interviewers will have read your file. It publishes no class profile on the pages we read: no GPA or DAT averages, no counts of applicants or interviews and no acceptance rate. This is what it does publish: Figure. What KCU publishes. Degree. DMD, a four-year pre-doctoral program, in Joplin, Missouri. Accreditation. The status KCU states

on its DMD, program and accreditation pages is “initial accreditation”; its DMD page says CODA granted it in February 2022. First class. Welcomed in 2023, according to KCU's Class of 2030 news post. Class of 2028. 81 students (KCU news post of August 20, 2024). Class of 2029. 82 students (KCU news post of August 21, 2025). Class of 2030. Received white coats on August 15, 2026 (KCU news post of August 21, 2026); the post gives no class size. Class entering in 2027. No size published on the pages we read. GPA / DAT. No minimum and no class averages on the pages we read. Tuition and fees, 2026–27. KCU lists an estimated $111,620 a year for each of the four years ($106,800 tuition, a $70 activity fee and a $4,750 academic support fee) and an estimated program total of $446,480; it says rates are “subject to change at the discretion of the institution”. Deposits. $1,500 acceptance deposit and $1,500 matriculation deposit; the catalog says

they are “non-refundable and non-transferable to another program”. Secondary application fee. $60 on KCU's tuition page; the catalog says the fee is waived if you received an AADSAS fee waiver. Which DAT scale applies?. KCU's DMD pages we read print no DAT score, average or minimum, so there is no KCU figure to put on a scale. Since 1 March 2025 the ADA has reported DAT scores on a 200–600 scale in 10-point increments, replacing the old 1–30 scale. If you read a score in a forum post about KCU, check which scale it uses, and remember it is an applicant's number, not a KCU target. In state or out of state? KCU's requirements page lists "State of Residence" among its factors: "Preference given to permanent residents of Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas and KCU College of Biosciences graduates." KCU's news post on its Class of 2028 says "Among the 81 students in the Class of 2028, 49 percent come from Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas and

Oklahoma"; the pages we read give no such figure for later classes. Its FAQ, which still speaks of the college in the future tense, says the college "will serve the four-state region of Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas and Oklahoma" and "seeks to recruit and educate future dentists who have a passion for providing care in underserved communities and who wish to continue to practice in rural areas after graduation." Prerequisite coursework Course. Semester hours. Quarter hours. General Biology (Zoology or similar is an acceptable alternative), lecture and lab. 8. 12. Microbiology or Biochemistry, lecture and lab. 4. 6. General Chemistry, lecture and lab. 8. 12. Organic Chemistry, lecture and lab. 8. 12. Additional Biology, Chemistry and/or Physics courses. 12. 18. English Composition/Technical Writing. 6. 8. Human Anatomy (the catalog says lecture and lab). 4. 6. Grades: KCU's requirements page says the courses must be "completed with a grade

of C or better"; its catalog says "a grade of C or higher," "including laboratory work." Degree and coursework must be verified "no later than July 1 of the matriculation year, unless granted an extension by the Office of Admissions." KCU prints no matriculation date on the pages we read, so July 1, 2027 is our reading for this cycle. Substitutions: "Prerequisite course substitutions are permitted in some situations." The catalog asks for a letter describing your rationale, a faculty letter detailing the course content, the course description from the university catalog and the syllabus, sent to admissions@kansascity.edu. If a substitution is granted, "the substituted course will not be counted toward the fulfillment of any other prerequisite." The DAT: KCU's requirements page lists "United States DAT score," and its catalog says "Applicants are encouraged to include the scheduled DAT test dates on the AADSAS application to indicate the

intent of taking or retaking the exam." KCU prints no minimum score. How old a score may be is where its pages disagree (below). Three letters: one "from a pre-health advisor or committee; may substitute a science faculty member who is familiar with your scholastic performance," one from a dentist (non-family member) and one from "an individual who can attest to your academic strengths, abilities and fit for dental school." Letters "must be dated within two years of matriculation year (e.g., if starting classes at KCU in August 2027, letters must be dated no earlier than May 2025)." The catalog adds that "if you submit your letters through AADSAS, you do not need to resubmit." Service and clinical experience: the requirements page lists "Demonstrated community service through volunteerism and/or service-oriented employment" and "Clinical dental experience (shadowing or practice)." Health and technical standards: "All candidates and

enrolled dental students must meet health and technical standards to be admitted to, participate in, and graduate from the dental education programs of KCU." Its health requirements page says the hepatitis B vaccine series "takes 4–6 months to complete," that "Because of early clinical training, students must complete the full series before matriculation," and "You may need to start the series before acceptance to meet this deadline." The catalog says "all students matriculating into KCU must have a criminal background check performed at their own expense." No transfers: "The CDM does not accept transfer students and applicants are not eligible for transfer credit or placement into an advanced year." Career changers: its FAQ (older text) says "Individuals in the workforce who desire a career change are encouraged to apply," and that you "must complete all pre-requisite coursework and meet the admissions criteria." Internationally

trained dentists: the same FAQ says "KCU does not offer a special course of study for internationally-trained dentists. Internationally trained dentists who wish to obtain a U.S. dental degree may apply to the DMD program and are required to complete the full four-year program." How old can your DAT be? KCU's pages disagree. KCU's requirements page says "DAT scores must be dated no later than 3 years prior to entry, i.e., for August 2027 entry scores need to be May 2024 or later." Its catalog says "Completion of the Dental Admissions Test (DAT) within three years prior to the matriculation date." The stricter reading is the catalog's, which counts back from the matriculation date rather than from May. KCU prints no matriculation date; for the August 2027 start in its own example, three years back falls in August 2024 (our arithmetic), so a DAT taken in September 2024 or later satisfies both pages whatever day classes begin; one from

August 2024 itself counts only if it falls within three years of that day. Confirm with admissions@kansascity.edu, the address its catalog gives for prerequisite substitutions. Bachelor's degree: accredited, or regionally accredited?. KCU's requirements page says "A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college is required for admission to the College of Dental Medicine." Its catalog says "A baccalaureate degree earned from a regionally accredited college or university." The stricter reading is the catalog's: regionally accredited. Both name KCU's partner programs as the exception (the requirements page says the requirement "may be waived for students enrolled in KCU-CDM Partner Programs"; the catalog says "Exceptions are only made for those students accepted through our Partner Program"). If you are unsure whether your college counts, ask admissions@kansascity.edu before you apply. Shadowing: required, or no minimum?. The

requirements page lists "Clinical dental experience (shadowing or practice)" among the requirements for admission, and the catalog lists "Shadowing of a dental health professional" among the non-academic achievements the Admissions Committee looks for. KCU's FAQ (older text) says "The KCU-CDM does not require a minimum number of hours of shadowing experience. We do recommend you participate in a depth and breadth of dental experiences, inclusive of general dentistry." KCU publishes no hour count anywhere we read. Plan on the stricter reading: have real clinical dental experience in your application (the FAQ recommends experiences "inclusive of general dentistry"), and confirm what counts with admissions@kansascity.edu. CASPer or Kira?. KCU's How to Apply page, requirements page, FAQ, DMD program pages, technical standards and the DMD pages of its 2026-2027 catalog don't mention CASPer, Altus or Acuity Insights, Kira, Snapshot, Duet or a

multiple mini-interview. What they do list includes AADSAS, a secondary application ("If offered, complete secondary application," says the catalog's schedule), three letters, a DAT score, the prerequisite courses and, if you are invited, an interview. To confirm a rule where KCU's pages disagree, email admissions@kansascity.edu. The DMD pages we read name no admissions email; this is the address KCU's catalog gives for transcripts and prerequisite substitutions. The KCU Interview: What the School Says By invitation, sent to your AADSAS email. KCU's How to Apply page says "Invitations for interviews will be sent to the email provided in your AADSAS application. Interviews are conducted virtually and are by invitation only." That page is undated and names no cycle (KCU's sitemap lists it as last modified on 30 March 2026), so go by what your invitation says. The catalog's DMD section says "KCU conducts personal interviews with selected

applicants" and doesn't say whether they are virtual. Neither page names the video platform. August through February on two pages. The How to Apply page says "Interviews begin in August and typically end in February." The catalog says "Invitations for interviews begin in July and will be sent to the email provided in your AADSAS application. Interviews usually begin in August." Its schedule lists the interviews under "August - February." The FAQ (older text) says "Interviews begin in September and continue through March." See the callout below. A formal personal interview. The catalog says "selected applicants are invited for a formal personal interview. Interviews are opportunities for applicants to demonstrate professionalism, critical thinking, and high-level communication skills." KCU doesn't say how many interviews you will have, who conducts them or how long they last. What it evaluates. The requirements page says "Interview:

Acceptable applicants will be interviewed at the discretion of the committee. Speech, manner, interests, goals and individual characteristics are evaluated during the interview process." After the interview. The catalog says "the Admissions Committee reviews the applicant's file and then makes recommendations to the dean of CDM for consideration. First round of decisions are typically sent around December 15th." The How to Apply page says "You will be notified of a decision via email beginning December 15th." An interview is not guaranteed. The FAQ (older text) says "An early submission does not guarantee a secondary application or interview," and the How to Apply page says "Upon review of your AADSAS application, KCU invites qualified applicants to complete our secondary application." Interview window: KCU's pages disagree. The How to Apply page says "Interviews begin in August and typically end in February," and the catalog's schedule

says "August - February." The FAQ, whose text is older, says "Interviews begin in September and continue through March." Plan on the stricter reading that covers all three: be ready to interview from August and as late as March, and confirm with admissions@kansascity.edu. Applicants report interview dates in both August and late January (below). What applicants report These are posts on a public applicant forum, and an invite tracker that a forum volunteer compiles there from applicants' reports, not KCU's words: This cycle (2026–27): the forum's invite tracker (compiled by a volunteer from applicants' reports), last updated 25 September 2026 when we read it on 6 October, lists KCU's first invitations on 15 July and a first interview date of 12 August, virtual. In the forum's KCU thread for this cycle, which held 10 posts as of 9 October 2026, four applicants posted a notification. One notified on 7/30/2026 wrote "Method of interview:

Virtual"; another, on 7/31/2026, "Method of Interview: Virtual"; another, on "July 24," "Method of interview: Online"; and a fourth, on 8/1/26, "Method of Interview: Virtual 10/22" (we read 10/22 as an interview date). None described the format. The earliest notification in the thread is the one dated July 24: no post reports the tracker's 15 July invitation or 12 August interview. Last cycle (2025–26): the tracker listed KCU's first invitations on 29 July 2025 and a first interview date of 20 August, virtual. In the forum's KCU thread for that cycle (49 posts), one applicant posted on 29 July 2025 a notification with "Method of interview: Zoom, 8/20/25," and on 21 August wrote "They did their first round of interviews yesterday." Seven applicants who posted a report wrote Zoom or Virtual for the setting. Asked on 29 July whether only virtual options were available, one applicant answered on 30 July: "It appears so. None of the

interview spots on their online scheduler gave an in-person option." Dates: the interview dates applicants listed in that thread run from 20 August 2025 to 23 January 2026 (one applicant, in a post of 22 October 2025, wrote "Virtual; 01/23/2026"); others listed "Virtual (Oct 1)" and "Virtual (Nov)." What the day involved: asked on 1 October 2025 "how was ur interview?", one applicant answered on 2 October, "It went good I think. It was about a 3-4 hours long, broken up into group sessions, a few one on ones, and a group activity." On 25 September 2025 one applicant asked "any tips for the group activity? im a little nervous about it- is it hard," and on 26 September another asked "Did anyone get email to meet the dean on Friday via zoom?" We found no reply that answers either question. KCU's pages we read describe none of this. An NDA: on 21 August and 4 September 2025, one applicant wrote that they couldn't give specifics because of an

NDA ("Since we have to sign an NDA, we cannot give specifics. I will say that I found the process to be very well ran and everybody was very kind and supportive."). So there is little to learn from the thread about the questions. Scheduling: on 29 July 2025 one applicant wrote that, after the invitation, logging in to schedule said "Access Denied" and that they had emailed and called without a reply yet, and later that day wrote "It looks like it is up and running now." If your scheduler fails, contact admissions@kansascity.edu. Decisions: on 15 December 2025 two applicants posted "Accepted at 12:01 central" (the second adding "as well"). On 15 and 16 December two others posted "Waitlisted," and another wrote on the 15th "Yes I got a waitlist email this morning around 8am MST." KCU's DMD pages we read don't mention a waitlist. What KCU doesn't publish. On the pages we read: who interviews you, how many interviewers or interviews you

will have, how long they last, whether your file is open or closed, any group or mini-interview format, the video platform, whether you can reschedule, a waitlist or alternate list, a class profile and any minimum GPA or DAT. Because KCU is silent on the format, treat the applicant reports above as one person's account each, and prepare for the general case: a formal personal interview where you have to tell your own story and show professionalism, critical thinking and clear communication. Practice Your KCU Answers Out Loud. KCU's undated How to Apply page says its interviews are conducted virtually, and its catalog says an interview is where you show professionalism, critical thinking and high-level communication skills. Practice answering interview and ethical questions out loud, as you would on a video call, and get instant AI feedback on structure and clarity.. Start Practicing Free →. KCU's 2026–27 Admissions Timeline When. What

KCU says. As early as June 2026. AADSAS opens: the catalog says “The AADSAS application is open June through February every year. For example, students may submit applications as early as June 2026 for a Fall 2027 start date.” Its schedule lists “May - June” for sending transcripts to AADSAS, completing AADSAS and, “If offered, complete secondary application”. After KCU reviews your AADSAS application. KCU “invites qualified applicants to complete our secondary application”; $60 on its tuition page, waived with an AADSAS fee waiver (the catalog). The FAQ (older text) says secondary applications are offered “beginning in mid-July on a rolling basis”. July. “Invitations for interviews begin in July” and go to the email in your AADSAS application (the catalog). August through February. Interviews: the catalog's schedule says “August - February”; its How to Apply page says they “begin in August and typically end in February”; the FAQ (older

text) says September through March. Around December 15. “Conditional acceptances typically begin going out around December 15th, after which KCU offers rolling admissions” (the catalog); the How to Apply page says you will be notified of a decision “beginning December 15th”. February 1. “AADSAS application deadline. Secondary applications are accepted and processed until all interview positions have been filled” (the catalog). It prints no year; February 1, 2027 is our reading. The How to Apply page, requirements page and FAQ publish no deadline. By July 1 of the matriculation year. Degree completion and required coursework verified, “unless granted an extension by the Office of Admissions” (the catalog); July 1, 2027 is our reading for this cycle. Fall 2027. The catalog's “Fall 2027 start date” for applications opened in June 2026; the requirements page says “August 2027 entry.” KCU prints no first day of class on the pages we read.

KCU's How to Apply page says "Students are encouraged to apply a year before their anticipated matriculation," and its catalog says applicants are "encouraged to begin the application process a year prior to matriculation." Its FAQ (older text) says that although the portal opens mid-May, applications "can be submitted as early as June 1st," while the How to Apply page says you apply "beginning in June when the application portal opens"; both put the first submission date in June. February 1 is late in the cycle. The catalog's February 1 line is the only deadline KCU publishes on the pages we read. The same line says secondary applications are processed "until all interview positions have been filled," and the catalog says first-round decisions are typically sent around December 15 and that rolling admissions follow. Reading those together is our inference, not KCU's statement: applying in the summer, not near February 1, is the safer

plan. Confirm the deadline with admissions@kansascity.edu, since KCU prints no year beside it. After an offer. The catalog says "Acceptance to KCU is conditional until all fees/deposits, paperwork/documentation, and coursework are completed. Failure to submit all items by the posted due dates will result in forfeiture of a seat in the upcoming class." It lists the acceptance deposit and the matriculation deposit, both non-refundable. What KCU Looks For KCU's catalog says "The major criteria for rating applicants include academic excellence and non-academic achievements," and adds that "a candidate's ability and desire to fulfill the mission of the University" is also considered. Its FAQ (older text) says it "does a holistic review of each applicant's credentials, therefore, there is no single portrait of a competitive applicant." The DMD pages we read give no interview advice, so the best checklist for the interview is what KCU says it

weighs: Professionalism, critical thinking and communication: the catalog's own words for what an interview is for. Be ready to show each with a specific example from your own experience. Speech, manner, interests, goals and individual characteristics: the requirements page lists these as "evaluated during the interview process." Know why you want dentistry, what you want to do with it and how you come across when you explain it. Compassion, integrity and concern for others: KCU's CDM technical standards say "Compassion, integrity, concern for others, interpersonal skills, interests, and motivations are all personal qualities that will be assessed during the admissions and educational processes." Have a story that shows one of them. Calming an anxious patient: the same standards say "A student must be able to manage apprehensive patients with a range of moods and behaviors in a tactful, congenial, personal manner so as not to alienate

or antagonize them." Adapting under uncertainty: "He or she must be able to adapt to changing environments, display flexibility, and learn to function in the face of uncertainties inherent in the clinical problems of patients." Honesty and respect with everyone: "A student must be able to interrelate among colleagues, staff, and patients with honesty, integrity, respect, and nondiscrimination." Non-academic achievements: the catalog says the Admissions Committee looks for "Leadership roles," "Involvement in community organizations/projects," "Involvement in research activities," "Commitment to an organization(s) for more than two years," "Participation in a domestic/international mission trip," "Experience in a clinical setting," "Volunteer experiences" and "Shadowing of a dental health professional." Choose one or two and be able to say what each taught you. Service to communities: the catalog lists the values "Excellence," "Equity"

and "Empathy," and its vision, "Changing oral health-care for good." The FAQ (older text) quotes KCU's mission to "improve the wellbeing of the community we serve" and says the college seeks future dentists "who have a passion for providing care in underserved communities" and "who wish to continue to practice in rural areas after graduation." The best Why KCU material is in its curriculum and its community sites. KCU's DMD page says "The 4-year DMD curriculum represents a philosophy that dentists are primary care clinicians capable of caring for underserved and/or vulnerable populations." In the first year, students "will participate in service-learning experiences by providing oral health education and outreach to communities with limited access to dental care," and "Early clinical experiences will begin at the end of the D1 year with students providing preventive services such as adult and pediatric prophylaxis, sealants and fluoride

treatments to patients in the Oral Health Center (OHC)." In the fourth year, "Students will participate in two seven-week clinical rotations over their D4 year, rotating to community educational activity sites that include Community Clinics, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and Indian Health Service facilities (IHSCs)," located "throughout Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas and Arkansas." (Its FAQ, older text, says two 12-week rotations; go by the DMD page and confirm the length.) Its FAQ (older text) also says "The KCU-CDM is a Pass/Fail program." Connect one of these to how you want to learn and whom you want to serve; the location alone is not a reason. The practice questions below are ours, built on these criteria. KCU does not publish its interview questions; these are practice questions built on what it says it weighs. Its catalog calls the interview “a formal personal interview” and says it is where applicants “demonstrate professionalism critical thinking and high-level communication skills ” and KCU doesn t say whether your interviewers will have read your file. Build a 90-second answer that stands on its who you are what led you to dentistry and why KCU is the next step. Why dentistry? KCU s requirements page lists “Clinical dental experience (shadowing or practice)” among its requirements and its catalog lists “Shadowing of a dental health professional” among the achievements its Admissions Committee looks for.

Anchor your answer in something specific you saw in a dental setting then say what it confirmed for you. Why KCU? KCU s DMD page says its curriculum “represents a philosophy that dentists are primary care clinicians capable of caring for underserved and/or vulnerable populations.” It says early clinical experiences “will begin at the end of the D1 year” in the Oral Health Center and that fourth-year students rotate to community sites including Federally Qualified Health Centers across Missouri Oklahoma Kansas and Arkansas. Connect one of these to how you want to learn and whom you want to serve; the location alone is not a reason. What draws you to caring for underserved or rural communities? KCU s FAQ (older text) says the college “seeks to recruit and educate future dentists who have a passion for providing care in underserved communities and who wish to continue to practice in rural areas after graduation.” Name a specific experience

that shaped your answer and what you plan to do about it. Don t claim a commitment you don t a question like this invites follow-ups. Behavioral Tell me about a time you led others. KCU s catalog lists “Leadership roles” and “Commitment to an organization(s) for more than two years” among the non-academic achievements its committee looks for and its requirements page lists “Leadership experiences/potential” under professionalism. Pick a time you took responsibility for an outcome not just a title and say what changed because of you. Tell me about your community service. What did it teach you? KCU s requirements page lists “Demonstrated community service through volunteerism and/or service-oriented employment ” and its catalog lists “Involvement in community organizations/projects” and “Volunteer experiences.” Pick one experience describe what you actually did and say how it shaped how you will treat patients. Describe a time you had to

adapt when plans changed. KCU s technical standards say a student “must be able to adapt to changing environments display flexibility and learn to function in the face of uncertainties inherent in the clinical problems of patients.” Keep the setup short show how you adjusted and what you decided and say what you would do the same way again. Tell me about a time you worked with someone whose approach differed from yours. The same standards say “A student must be able to interrelate among colleagues staff and patients with honesty integrity respect and nondiscrimination.” Show how you listened first what you changed and what the team achieved without blaming the other person. Ethical / Scenario A patient is anxious and upset before treatment. How do you handle it? KCU s technical standards say “A student must be able to manage apprehensive patients with a range of moods and behaviors in a tactful congenial personal manner so as not to

alienate or antagonize them.” Show that you would acknowledge the fear explain each step in plain words agree on a signal to pause and involve your supervising dentist if the patient wants to stop. A patient needs treatment they cannot afford. What do you do? KCU describes a curriculum aimed at “underserved and/or vulnerable populations” and sends fourth-year students to community clinics and Federally Qualified Health Centers. Acknowledge the patient without judgment explore legitimate options such as phased treatment or a community clinic and never lower the standard of care. Show your reasoning; a question like this rarely has a single right answer. You see a classmate being dishonest on a patient record. What do you do? KCU s requirements page lists “ethics integrity” under professionalism and its technical standards ask for “honesty integrity respect and nondiscrimination.” Describe an escalation path from a direct conversation to

the proper channels and say why integrity matters when patients trust your license. Explain a diagnosis to a patient who has never heard the terms. KCU s technical standards say a student must be able to communicate in lay language and “communicate effectively and efficiently with all members of the healthcare team.” Use plain words check understanding by asking the patient to repeat it back and invite questions rather than reciting facts. Apply the one deadline KCU publishes is February 1 and no year is printed KCU s catalog lists February 1 as the AADSAS deadline and says secondary applications are processed “until all interview positions have been filled”; it also says conditional acceptances “typically begin going out around December 15th.” Reading those together is our apply in the summer when AADSAS opens (the catalog says as early as June 2026 for a Fall 2027 start) complete the secondary quickly if KCU invites you and confirm

the deadline with admissions@kansascity.edu. Watch the email you gave AADSAS KCU s How to Apply page says “Invitations for interviews will be sent to the email provided in your AADSAS application ” and its catalog says invitations begin in July. Use an address you check daily and look in your spam folder. One applicant reported in a public forum on 29 July 2025 that the scheduling page said “Access Denied” the day the invitation arrived and that it worked later that day; if yours fails email admissions@kansascity.edu. Prepare for a virtual interview but follow your invitation KCU s undated How to Apply page says interviews are conducted virtually and applicants reported Virtual or Zoom in a public forum in 2025–26 and 2026–27 but KCU publishes no format. KCU s catalog says “selected applicants are invited for a formal personal interview. Interviews are opportunities for applicants to demonstrate professionalism critical thinking and high-level communication skills.” Its requirements page says “Speech manner interests goals and individual characteristics are evaluated during the interview process.” The pages we read don t say who interviews you how many interviews you will have how long they last or whether your file is open or closed. After the interview “the Admissions Committee reviews

the applicant s file and then makes recommendations to the dean of CDM for consideration.” The only description of the day we found is one applicant s post in a public forum on 2 October “It was about a 3-4 hours long broken up into group sessions a few one on ones and a group activity.” That is one person s report not KCU s. Is the KCU dental interview virtual or in person? KCU s How to Apply page says “Interviews are conducted virtually and are by invitation only.” That page is undated and names no cycle (KCU s sitemap lists it as last modified on 30 March 2026) and the DMD section of its 2026-2027 catalog says only “KCU conducts personal interviews with selected applicants.” Neither names the video platform. In a public applicant forum the four 2026–27 applicants who posted a notification wrote Virtual (three one adding 10/22) or Online (one) and seven 2025–26 applicants who described the setting wrote Zoom or Virtual. KCU doesn t describe the interview s structure so don t assume read your invitation for what your day includes. What GPA and DAT do I need for KCU dental school? The KCU pages we read publish no minimum GPA or DAT score and no class profile. The catalog s “minimum academic requirements” are a baccalaureate degree a DAT within three years before the matriculation date and the prerequisite courses with a grade of C or higher and the requirements page says admission is competitive and based on a “whole file review” that includes grade point averages performance trends dental admission test scores academic rigor and course load. The DAT has been scored on a 200–600 scale since 1 March 2025 and KCU prints no score on either scale; scores in forum posts are

applicants own not KCU averages. Secondary applications are accepted and processed until all interview positions have been filled. Conditional acceptances typically begin going out around December 15th after which KCU offers rolling admissions.” The catalog prints no year (February 1 2027 is our reading) and the How to Apply page the requirements page and the FAQ publish none. The catalog says AADSAS is open June through February and the How to Apply page says “Students are encouraged to apply a year

before their anticipated matriculation ” so apply early and confirm the date with admissions@kansascity.edu. Does KCU prefer applicants from certain states? KCU states a preference. Its requirements page lists “State of Preference given to permanent residents of Missouri Arkansas Oklahoma Kansas and KCU College of Biosciences graduates.” KCU s news post on its Class of 2028 says “Among the 81 students in the Class of 2028 49 percent come from Missouri Kansas Arkansas and Oklahoma”; the pages we read give no such figure for later classes and no counts of applicants or interviews by residency. Its FAQ older text that speaks of the college in the future tense says the college “will serve the four-state region of Missouri Kansas Arkansas and Oklahoma.” Is KCU s dental school accredited and is it admitting for 2026-27? KCU s DMD page says “KCU-CDM received initial accreditation in February 2022 from the Commission on Dental Accreditation

(CODA) ” and its accreditation page lists the program s status as “initial accreditation.” KCU s news post on the Class of 2030 says the class brought the program to “full enrollment three years after welcoming the inaugural class in 2023.” Its program page also carries an older sentence about the Higher Learning Commission s pre-approval “KCU’s application for the new dental program has been submitted for review ” so go by its DMD and accreditation pages for the status above. KCU is taking applications for this its 2026-2027 catalog says “students may submit applications as early as June 2026 for a Fall 2027 start date.” UMKC Dental School Interview Guide (DDS) In Kansas City UMKC requires an interview with dental school faculty by invitation only and publishes no format setting or interview months; its September 1 and October 1 dates have passed.
