Creighton Dental School Interview: DDS 2026-27

Creighton DDS guide from its own pages: a virtual interview, a mandatory in-person presentation and tour, DAT minimums and its Dec 1 and Dec 15 deadlines.

Creighton's interview has two required parts: a virtual interview with a member of its admissions committee and a mandatory in-person presentation and tour in Omaha, with a fall season from September to November. Here is what Creighton publishes, what applicants report, and how to prepare. return ( <> Creighton DDS Requirements and Class Profile Creighton University School of Dentistry, in Omaha, Nebraska, opened in 1905 and says it has prepared more than 5,000 dentists. It describes itself as guided by cura personalis, "preparing dentists who care for the whole of a person," and by its "Jesuit Catholic tradition." Its DDS is a four-year program, and this cycle's applicants are applying for fall 2027 matriculation. You apply through ADEA AADSAS, and Creighton then sends its own supplemental application to verified AADSAS applicants. Its class profile, which it says is current as of August 2026, counts the applicants, acceptances and

matriculants of three entering classes: Figure. Fall 2025. Fall 2024. Fall 2023. Applicants (ADEA AADSAS verified). 2,791. 2,072. 1,790. Acceptances. 254. 222. 229. Matriculants. 118. 117. 117. Mean undergraduate GPA, total. 3.73. 3.72. 3.68. Mean undergraduate GPA, science. 3.65. 3.64. 3.59. Mean DAT Academic Average. 420. 440. 420. Mean DAT Perceptual Ability. 450. 450. 430. Mean DAT Total Science. 430. 430. 430. The page's headline figures, separate from that table, list 117 first-year DDS students (69 women and 48 men, with a mean age of 23) from 30 states, led by Minnesota (16), Nebraska (13), Idaho (10) and South Dakota (9). Its academic profile, in the same block, gives a mean undergraduate GPA of 3.75, a mean science GPA of 3.68 and mean DAT scores of 440 Academic Average, 450 Perceptual Ability and 450 Total Science. It also gives 3,386 applications, without saying for which cycle. Which DAT scale are these scores on?. Every

DAT figure on Creighton's admissions and class profile pages is a three-digit score on the 200–600 scale the DAT has used since 1 March 2025: the averages above and the minimums below. Creighton gives no old-scale equivalents, and we don't convert any. Its Fall 2023, Fall 2024 and Fall 2025 classes all took the DAT before the scale changed (for the Fall 2025 class, by Creighton's yearly November 15 DAT deadline, in 2024: our reading of its calendar), so their scores were first reported on the old 1–30 scale, and Creighton doesn't say how their three-digit averages were derived. Its DAT window for fall 2027 reaches back to June 1, 2023. The ADA, which runs the DAT, says that beginning March 1, 2025 all DAT scores are reported to ADEA AADSAS on the 3-digit scale, including "results from prior administrations (the latter of which will be psychometrically converted)," so an older test appears on your application as a three-digit score.

Creighton's pages don't say how they treat one; if you tested before March 2025, ask dentaladmissions@creighton.edu. Why this guide gives no acceptance rate. Creighton publishes counts, not rates: for Fall 2025, 2,791 verified applicants, 254 acceptances and 118 matriculants. It publishes no count of interviews, and we don't compute a rate from its figures. Creighton screens on the DAT. "Applicants must meet or exceed the Creighton SOD minimum scores listed below to be considered for admission," says its admissions page, and its 2026–2027 catalog says an applicant "MUST achieve" them: DAT minimums: Academic Average 370, Perceptual Ability 360 and Total Science 380 (the catalog calls the last one Survey of Natural Sciences), on the 200–600 scale. "Creighton prioritizes an applicant's most recent DAT test score for admission consideration," and it accepts the Canadian Dental Aptitude Test. It notes that these are minimum requirements and

points you to its class profile for the mean scores of enrolled students. The DAT window: for fall 2027 matriculation, a DAT taken between June 1, 2023 and November 15, 2026. Creighton asks you to take it "preferably no later than June of your final year of college." GPA: its admissions page sets no minimum. Its DDS program page says "All applicants should have earned at least a B average in their college courses," and both pages say "The Admissions Committee pays special attention to grades earned in the predental sciences." In state or out of state? Creighton is a private, Jesuit university, and the DDS pages we read state no preference for Nebraska residents. Its catalog lists "residence in states having educational compact agreements with the School" among the factors its selection considers, and it has compacts with four: New Mexico, North Dakota, Wyoming and Idaho. Residents of those states "are encouraged to apply to their

states' programs"; if accepted into their state's program, they "receive partial tuition remission," and they apply to Creighton the same way as everyone else. Idaho residents may take their first year at Idaho State University in Pocatello, under the Idaho Dental Education Program (IDEP), and the remaining three at Creighton. Creighton says 33% of its dental students come from states without dental schools. Prerequisite coursework Course. Semester hours. Lab. General Biology (at least two courses). 8. Included. General Chemistry (at least two courses). 8. Included. Organic Chemistry (at least two courses). 8. Included. General Physics (at least two courses). 8. Included. Biochemistry. 3. Not required. English (at least two courses). 6. Not applicable. College credit: at least two years' worth of credits, including 64 semester hours (96 quarter hours) of academic courses, not counting physical education and military science. Creighton's

pages disagree on when you need them (see below). Before you start: "All prerequisite courses must be successfully completed prior to matriculation," at an accredited institution in the United States or Canada, and "All degree coursework must be completed prior to matriculation." English can be composition, literature, comparative literature, certified writing or writing intensive courses. Community college, AP and IB: a prerequisite taken at a community college "must be validated and accepted as an equivalent course by the accredited four-year institution from which you complete your bachelor's and/or master's degree," and the catalog adds, "It is highly recommended that prerequisite science courses are completed at a four year institution." AP and IB credits count if your degree-granting school accepts them, and Creighton encourages students who used them for prerequisites to take additional advanced-level science courses. Advanced

science: "The School of Dentistry gives preference for admission to applicants who have completed additional advanced-level science coursework," such as anatomy, physiology and histology. Its DDS program page recommends a longer list of upper-level courses, adding microbiology, genetics, neuroscience, immunology, pharmacology and molecular biology. A degree: "A bachelor's degree is not required for acceptance, but it is preferred." Creighton adds that the majority of accepted applicants have majored in biology, chemistry, physics or zoology. Shadowing: "The Creighton University School of Dentistry requires a minimum of 65 hours of shadowing in the dental profession. The shadowing can be with a general dentist as well as specialists." Letters, through AADSAS: either three letters, two from instructors in the sciences and one from an instructor or mentor in another field ("for example employer, spiritual leader, dentist"), or one

recommendation from your college's recommending committee, which Creighton strongly encourages if your school has one. "All recommendations should testify to the applicant's potential for success in the field of dentistry, as well as to his or her character." Technical standards: accepted applicants must be able to perform the skills in Creighton's technical standards "with or without reasonable accommodation consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act." A standards form on Creighton's site, uploaded in December 2020, includes the manual dexterity to manipulate dental instruments and the physical ability to meet the time demands of clinical education and practice "(28 hours per week during the third and fourth year of dental school)." Before you enroll: incoming students complete a background investigation and drug screening. If you need an I-20: Creighton asks international applicants for a TOEFL score of 90 or higher or an

IELTS band of 7 or higher, which may be waived if you completed a degree at an accredited institution in the United States or Canada. Its catalog adds that student financial aid "is not available for students who are not citizens or permanent residents of the United States or its possessions." 64 semester hours by when? Creighton's pages disagree. Creighton's admissions page says "At time of application all applicants must have earned at least two years' worth of credits from an accredited college of arts and sciences," including the 64 semester hours. Its DDS program page and its 2026–2027 catalog say "By the end of the spring term preceding the fall in which they intend to enter the School of Dentistry" instead. Go by the stricter reading: have the 64 hours when you apply, and confirm with dentaladmissions@creighton.edu. Biochemistry: on the admissions page, not on the catalog's list. Creighton's admissions page lists "Biochemistry: 3

semester hours - lab is not required" among its science prerequisites. Its 2026–2027 catalog's list ("The 64 semester hours must include the following prerequisite courses") names general biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, English and physics, not biochemistry, and puts biochemistry among the "advanced level courses" it says "successful students have completed." Plan to complete the 3 semester hours before you start, and confirm with dentaladmissions@creighton.edu. CASPer or Kira?. Creighton's DDS admissions pages and the admission pages of its 2026–2027 catalog don't mention CASPer, Acuity Insights, Kira or any similar assessment. What they ask for is AADSAS, the DAT and its minimums, the prerequisites, at least 65 hours of shadowing, letters, the supplemental application with a photograph and a fee and, if you are invited, the virtual interview and the in-person presentation. To confirm a rule where Creighton's pages

disagree, write to dentaladmissions@creighton.edu, the address on its admissions requirements page (its other dentistry pages list denschadm@creighton.edu), or call 402.280.2695 or 800.544.5072. The Creighton Interview: What the School Says Required, and by invitation only. "Interviews are mandatory for acceptance into the Creighton University School of Dentistry. Interviews are by invitation only and consist of the following two required activities": the two below. A virtual interview with a member of the admissions committee. That is how Creighton describes the first activity. It doesn't say how long the interview lasts, which video platform it uses, or whether your interviewer has read your application. A mandatory in-person presentation in Omaha. The second activity is "A mandatory in-person presentation at the Creighton University School of Dentistry. During the presentation applicants will learn about the Office of Student Affairs

(the student support system of the School of Dentistry), the curriculum (how Creighton educates students to become dentists), and complete a tour of the School of Dentistry." Its graduate visits page puts it briefly: "Applicants who are invited to interview will receive a tour of the school." Two seasons. "September – November: Fall interview season," and "January - February: Spring Interview Season (if needed)": this cycle, September to November 2026 and, if needed, January to February 2027 (the years are ours: Creighton's list gives none). What it counts for. Interviews are "mandatory for acceptance," and Creighton's catalog says "Selection of all students is based upon both objective and subjective evaluation." Its pages don't say whether or how the interview is scored, or whether the presentation is evaluated. Plan for a trip to Omaha. The presentation and tour are in person and mandatory, so budget for travel even though the

interview itself is online. Creighton's page doesn't say whether they fall on the same day as your virtual interview; the applicants who posted dates for both listed the in-person visit on a later day (see below). Creighton's page also gives the fall season as September to November, while applicant reports from both recent cycles give August interview dates: an earliest available date of 18 August in 2025, and one applicant's interview scheduled for 20 August in 2026. Read your invitation as soon as it arrives, and ask dentaladmissions@creighton.edu if its dates don't work. What applicants report These are posts on a public applicant forum, and an invite tracker that a forum volunteer compiles there from applicants' reports, not Creighton's words: This cycle (2026–27): the forum's invite tracker (compiled by a volunteer from applicants' reports), last updated 25 September 2026, lists Creighton's first invitations on 10 August and a

first interview date of 1 September, virtual. In the forum's Creighton thread for this cycle, three out-of-state applicants each reported an invitation by email on 10 August 2026, and all three described the same two parts: two wrote "Virtual and in person tour," and the third "Virtual interview (August 20th) and in-person tour (Sept. 18th)," an interview earlier than the tracker's date. Two of them wrote that the earliest dates were in mid-August. Last cycle (2025–26): the tracker listed Creighton's first invitations on 14 August 2025 and a first interview on 18 August, virtual. On 6 August 2025, one applicant quoted an email from Creighton's admissions office: "I believe interview invitations will start going out sometime this month." On 14 August, an out-of-state applicant invited by email wrote, "Interviews are virtual with a required in-person orientation," and gave 18 August as the earliest interview date and 5 September as the

earliest orientation. Later invitations were reported by one applicant each on 1, 2 and 31 October 2025; the last, an in-state applicant, listed "11/4/25, 11/14/25 for in person tour." On 7 February 2026, one applicant posted that they had received an invitation on February 3, within Creighton's January–February spring season. On 15 December 2025, four applicants posted that they had been accepted that morning, at 8:57 or 8:58; three said the offer came by email, and one of them added a phone call later that day. Creighton's page gives no date for offers after the fall season; it lists only "March: Spring acceptance notifications (if needed)." All seven applicants in the two threads who described the setting reported a virtual interview and an in-person tour or orientation. None described the interview itself: how long it lasted, how many people were present, or what was asked. What Creighton doesn't publish. How long the virtual

interview lasts, which platform it uses, whether your interviewer has read your application, what is asked, when invitations go out, whether the presentation falls on the same day as the interview or is evaluated, and when fall interviewees hear. Creighton says its Admissions Committee "conducts a holistic review of the entire application," so reread your AADSAS application before the day and be ready to talk about any part of it. AADSAS applicants (“We encourage you to apply as soon as the application service begins accepting applications”). Once you receive it. Complete the supplemental application: the application itself, a personal photograph, the fee ($100 on the admissions page; $70, non-refundable, in the catalog) and the required letters of recommendation. A non-refundable $500 enrollment reservation deposit, credited to your first semester's tuition. Before you enroll. All prerequisite and degree coursework complete; a background investigation and drug screening. Fall 2027. Classes begin (this year's first-year students began with orientation on August 10, 2026, by the 2026–2027 catalog's calendar). Creighton's date list gives months and days only. Its DAT section ties this cycle to fall 2027 matriculation and November 15, 2026, so the years in this table are our reading. It gives no date for offers after the fall season and no deposit deadline, and the pages we read describe no waitlist process. December 15 is a hard stop. Creighton's admissions page says "The Admissions Committee will not accept and/or review applications that are completed after the deadline," and its

catalog says "An incomplete application after this deadline will not be reviewed by the Admissions Committee." The catalog adds: "Early application is strongly encouraged to give the Admissions Committee more time to evaluate the applicants." The fall interview season starts in September, so don't wait for December. $100 or $70? Creighton's pages disagree. Creighton's admissions page lists a "$100 application fee" as part of the supplemental application. Its 2026–2027 catalog lists a "Non-refundable $70 supplemental application fee." Plan on $100, and confirm the amount with dentaladmissions@creighton.edu before you pay. What Creighton Looks For Creighton's catalog says "Selection of all students is based upon both objective and subjective evaluation. Objective criteria include GPA, DAT scores, and science grades are given primary consideration." Its admissions page says the Admissions Committee "conducts a holistic review of the entire

application," including "the applicant's score on the DAT, courses taken, leadership ability, shadowing and service activities – to name a few." The other factors its catalog lists, with its mission and its technical standards, make the best checklist for the interview: Service to others: the catalog's list of other factors begins with a history of "service to others." Creighton's vision is of faculty, students and alumni "guided by ethics, professionalism, service, social justice, and Jesuit values," and its admissions page considers applicants' "potential to best serve the needs of society." Have one specific service story and what it taught you. Shadowing and clinical experience: "dental shadowing and clinical experiences" are on the list, and Creighton requires at least 65 hours, with general dentists or specialists. Be ready to describe what you saw a dentist do and what it taught you about the work. Character, motivation and

maturity: the catalog lists "evidence of good moral character, motivation, and emotional and intellectual maturity," and Creighton wants every letter to speak to your "potential for success in the field of dentistry, as well as to his or her character." Have an example of a hard choice you made well and of a setback you handled. Leadership: "leadership ability" is part of the holistic review. Pick a time you took responsibility for an outcome, not just a title. Your background: the catalog welcomes "any other personal background information the applicant chooses to submit," such as being a first-generation college student, "overcoming hardships or economic or educational disadvantages," or "having lived in a foreign country or spoken a language other than English at home." It adds that "none of these factors will be considered in isolation" and that "no factor will result in the admission of an academically unqualified applicant." Hand

skills: the catalog says "successful students have experiences that improved dexterity and perceptual ability including, but not limited to, fine arts, wood working, knitting, etc." Be ready to describe one such activity concretely. Patients and communication: Creighton's DDS program page says students learn "How to manage pain and maximize your calming influence on patients" and "How to communicate professionally in both oral and written forms." Its 2020 technical standards form includes the English to "describe patient changes in moods, activity and posture" and the vision to "observe and appreciate non-verbal communications when performing dental operations or administering medications." Serving a diverse society: Creighton's mission is to prepare "competent and compassionate oral health professionals to improve the health of our diverse society," and its admissions page ties a diverse student body to "educating culturally competent

professionals who can work successfully with all segments of the population and improve access to care for underserved populations." The best Why Creighton material is in its clinics and its community programs. Creighton says it serves more than 14,000 patients a year. Its pages describe community-based dental education for first-year students, courses in dental ethics in every year, early training in CAD/CAM dentistry, and a ceremony called the "Investiture of the White Coat" that welcomes students into full-time clinical studies after their second year. Third-year students are responsible for the comprehensive care of their own family of patients, and its overview of that year says, "You can expect to spend seven half-days per week providing care in the adult, pediatric, and surgical services clinics." Each senior spends two weeks providing care at a local public health dental clinic, in a program whose clinics are located throughout

Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota, Kansas and Missouri. Its Healthy Smiles program gives about 2,500 children a year school-based preventive care at no cost to their families, visiting about 20 schools in North Omaha; its ILAC program sends teams that include dental students to rural communities in the Dominican Republic each summer; and its students travel to the Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota to provide care. In June 2026, Creighton announced that the school will receive $4.625 million in Rural Health Transformation Grant funding over five years, which it says will support rural clinical rotations for students and emergency room diversion clinics. Connect one of these to how you want to learn and whom you want to serve. Internationally trained dentist? Creighton's dental programs page lists two programs, the DDS and an MS in Oral Biology, and the pages we read describe no advanced-standing program. To compare programs that have

one, see our CAAPID program finder . The practice questions below are ours, built on these criteria. Creighton does not publish its interview questions; these are practice questions built on what it says it weighs. Creighton doesn t say whether the admissions committee member who interviews you has read your application so build a 90-second answer that works either who you are the experiences that led you to dentistry and why Creighton is the next step. Why dentistry? Creighton requires at least 65 hours of shadowing with general dentists or specialists and its catalog lists “dental shadowing and clinical experiences” among the factors it considers. Anchor your answer in something specific you saw a dentist do with a patient then say what it confirmed for you about the work. Why Creighton? Use what Creighton says about its third-year students can “expect to spend seven half-days per

week providing care in the adult pediatric and surgical services clinics ” every senior spends two weeks at a local public health dental clinic and its outreach runs from school-based care in North Omaha to the Dominican Republic. Connect one of them to how you want to learn and whom you want to serve; the Jesuit name alone is not a reason. What does caring for the whole person mean to you? Creighton says its School of Dentistry is guided by cura personalis “preparing dentists who care for the whole of a person.” Give a concrete example of attending to someone s needs beyond the task in front of you such as a patient s fear or circumstances and connect it to the dentist you want to be. Behavioral Tell me about your service to others. What did it teach you? Creighton s catalog begins its list of other selection factors with a history of “service to others ” and its vision is of faculty students and alumni “guided by ethics

professionalism service social justice and Jesuit values.” Pick one experience say what you did and for whom and what it changed in how you see access to care. Describe a leadership role and what you accomplished in it. Creighton says its Admissions Committee s holistic review includes “leadership ability ” and its vision describes its faculty staff students and alumni as “leaders in their communities.” Pick a time you took responsibility for an outcome not just a title and say what changed because of you. Tell me about a challenge you overcame. Creighton s catalog welcomes background an applicant chooses to share such as “overcoming hardships or economic or educational disadvantages ” and lists “emotional and intellectual maturity” among what it looks for. Describe the challenge briefly spend most of your answer on what you did and end with what you learned and would do the same way again. How have you developed your hand skills?

Creighton s catalog says “successful students have experiences that improved dexterity and perceptual ability including but not limited to fine arts wood working knitting etc.” Describe one activity that demanded precision with your what you made or did how long you have done it and how you got better. Ethical / Scenario A patient needs treatment they cannot afford. What do you do? Creighton says its dental clinic gives “high-quality and affordable care to residents in our community ” and its admissions page speaks of improving “access to care for underserved populations.” Acknowledge the patient without judgment explore legitimate options such as phased treatment or a community clinic and never lower the standard of care. Show your reasoning; a question like this rarely has a single right answer. A patient is anxious before treatment. How do you help? Creighton s DDS program page says students learn “How to manage pain and maximize

your calming influence on patients ” and its 2020 technical standards form expects accepted applicants to be able to “describe patient changes in moods activity and posture.” Show that you would notice the fear explain each step in plain words agree on a signal to pause and involve your supervising dentist if the patient wants to stop. You see a classmate cheating on an exam. What do you do? Creighton s catalog lists “evidence of good moral character” among what it weighs and every year of its DDS includes courses in dental ethics. Describe an escalation path from a direct conversation to the proper channels and say why integrity matters when patients trust your license. Your patient s language or culture differs from yours. How do you make sure they understand their treatment? Creighton s admissions page speaks of “educating culturally competent professionals who can work successfully with all segments of the population ” and the

competencies in its catalog include “Understanding and obtaining informed consent.” Check what the patient understands use a qualified interpreter rather than guessing explain the options in plain words and go ahead only with informed consent. Clear the DAT minimums by November 15 Creighton says “Applicants must meet or exceed the Creighton SOD minimum scores” to be Academic Average 370 Perceptual Ability 360 and Total Science 380 on the 200–600 scale. For fall 2027 your DAT must be taken between June 1 2023 and November 15 2026. Creighton prioritizes your most recent score and it asks you to take the test “preferably no later than June of your final year of college.” Finish the supplemental application well before December 15 Creighton sends its supplemental application to verified AADSAS applicants and completing it includes a personal photograph the fee and your required letters. “The Admissions Committee will not accept and/or

review applications that are completed after the deadline” of December 15. Its catalog says “Early application is strongly encouraged to give the Admissions Committee more time to evaluate the applicants ” and the fall interview season starts in September. Plan for the trip to Omaha The second required activity is “A mandatory in-person presentation at the Creighton University School of Dentistry ” which includes a tour of the school. Creighton s page doesn t say whether it falls on the same day as your virtual interview and the applicants who posted dates for both listed the visit on a later day so read your invitation as soon as it arrives and plan your travel early. Set up for a virtual interview with a committee member Creighton s interview is “A virtual interview with a member of the admissions committee.” It doesn t name the platform or say how long the interview lasts so test your camera light and sound in advance practice

answering out loud in the same setup and have your stories about service shadowing and leadership ready to tell in a minute or two each.
